“What Is SEL” 

Effective social-emotional learning (SEL) is a process that provides children from pre-k to college, the mental skills and abilities that will significantly them to reduce their emotional stresses and help them in being emotionally aware, navigating their emotions better, improves their problem-solving and decision making skills, enhances their empathy towards others, raises academic test scores and increase resilience.

Competencies Attained

The competencies attained by effective social-emotional learning programming include:

    • Increase Empathy – Developing care and concern for others;
    • Relationship Building – Establishing positive relationships;

Welcome to the home of the WNP SEL, an initiative to work with schools, education centres, associations, businesses and non-profits that care deeply about introducing social-emotional learning (SEL) into our schools and community with a long-term vision for

    • Improving education in schools and college by promoting the incorporation of SEL in the curriculum.
    • Nurturing children and youth to improve their focus in life and encourage healthy and rewarding existence
    • Help create sensitive, sensible and competent leaders for today and tomorrow
    • Helping students to overcome stress related to learning and growing and being effective and efficient in study and work.
    • Reducing violence and addictions and other social maladies in our community.

The purpose of this effort is to encourage decision-makers in making SEL a part of the student life.

To support all young people to be successful – socially, emotionally and academically, by the introduction and advancement of the social and emotional learning programs, policies and practices in our schools and our community in India.

We envision Indian schools and education centres to be safe, caring and supportive where youth and educators are empathetic, resilient, culturally aware and responsive, civically engaged and where young people develop the skills to think critically, manage emotions, solve problems and form positive relationships with others.

“Strategic Goals Of SEL”

Goal 1: Promote and support implementation of SEL programs and practice:

    • Educate administrators and decision makers of schools and colleges in India about the importance of SEL and its incorporation in the educational system;
    • Develop and implement strategies that promote SEL and help institutions adopt effective ways to implement SEL nation-wide;
    • Promote the establishment of SEL based curriculum for teachers and administrators in Indian school, colleges and universities;
    • Promote the establishment of SEL curriculum and training for parents and community-based educators and advance their contribution in student development;
    • Promote current innovative SEL research initiatives and findings;
    • Promote evaluation frameworks and metrics to measure SEL impact and effectiveness.

Goal 2: Ensure organizational capacity-building and sustainability through a structural framework that advances the mission and vision.

    • Help instrument the organizational and governance strategies and structures;
    • Formulate and establish an evolving strategic planning document;
    • Identify resources necessary to carry out the strategic plan and sustain the organizational structure;
    • Create development strategy and budget, where appropriate;
    • Assist in Implementation and sustenance of the governance strategies and structures.
